Gifted and Talented / Early Entrance Kindergarten or First Grade

Early Entrance is a process designed to accelerate highly gifted students into kindergarten or first grade. The Colorado legislature allows school districts to enroll students who would otherwise not be old enough, but who show that they are academically and socially advanced.

Students who qualify must show that they are in the top 2% of all children their age in ability and achievement. These students are beginning to read and can recognize many sight words. They are able to add and subtract simple numbers and recognize simple patterns. These students prefer playing with older children and ask the grown-ups in their lives lots of questions. They like to wonder and are highly curious about the world around them.

The Early Entrance program is currently accepting applications for the 2019-2020 school year. Parents can download the application online or pick one up from the front desk at the district Administration building, located at 800 S Taft Ave. The district does not charge a fee to apply or to complete the testing required by the process. If you have a child who does not meet the age requirements for kindergarten or first grade, but you believe would be hampered by not attending school, please apply.
All applications are due by noon on April 1. Late applications will not be accepted.

For more information: , or come to an informational meeting on Tuesday, February 26 at 5pm at the TSD Administration Building.
